The Connors Center for Women’s Health and Gender Biology, in partnership with leaders from across Mass General Brigham, has launched the Sex/gender Informed Research Collaborative Think Tank (SIRCTT), with the goals of to supporting and expanding collaborative women’s health and sex/gender-informed research initiatives across the Mass General Brigham system. Building on the long-standing mission of the Connors Center to advance the health of women via research, education and training, SIRCTT aims to provide an academic home for the MGB community of scientists focused on sex/gender and women’ health research.
SIRCTT’s goals include:
Create a community of scientists focused on sex/gender and women’s health research within the MGB system.
Build and foster a sense of professional identity for members of such community.
Create a platform that facilitates knowledge exchange, scientific collaborations, and identification of unmet needs and scientific priorities.
Support sex/gender and women’s health research within the MGB system via education, mentoring, and funding.
We welcome and encourage the participation of junior, mid-career and senior scientists from Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, Mass Eye and Ear, McLean Hospital, Spaulding Rehabilitation, and Mass General Brigham. Participants should include investigators who are considering expanding their research’ focus or are currently focusing on women’s health and/or on the influence of sex and gender on disease and health outcomes. Sex/gender-informed research includes focusing on sexual and gender minorities, examining the intersectional effects of sex, gender, and race, as well as investigating the role of sex and gender in the context of health equity.
How can I get involved in SIRCTT? There are three ways to become part of SIRCTT:
Join SIRCTT advisory board as an Institutional Representative. This is a ‘nomination-only’ role for senior investigators across different MGB Institutions.
Experienced investigators with an established record in women’s health research or sex/gender-informed research are encouraged to join the SIRCTT Faculty Core.
Join SIRCTT educational and networking program. Junior and mid-career investigators who are considering a career in women’s health and/or sex/gender-informed research or are currently working in the field are invited to participate in this program.
