NPR on Perimenopause

On January 16, 2020, NPR’s Morning Edition reported on perimenopause symptoms and research. Perimenopause occurs in the years leading up to menopause, and despite its significant impact on women’s health, few women are aware of it. Dr. Hadine Joffe, Executive Director of the Connors Center, was interviewed for the story and noted that women tend to cope with feelings of discomfort, so they are reluctant to seek help. Even if they are direct about their symptoms, most physicians, including OB-GYNs, have had limited training about perimenopause. Dr. Joffe encouraged both patients and providers to increase their awareness about perimenopause.
