Primavera Spagnolo, MD, PhD Interviewed to Discuss New Connors Study

Primavera Spagnolo, MD, PhD, Scientific Director of our First.in.Women Precision Medicine Platform, spoke to local Boston news station WCVB last Monday about a recently published study that she conducted with other Connors Center affiliates. The study, carried out by Dr. Spagnolo along with Alexandra Sosinsky, MSc, Janet Rich-Edwards, ScD, MPH, Aleta Wiley, MPH, MSc,and Hadine Joffe, MD, MSc, assessed participation by sex in recent clinical trials and found that despite some improvement over the years, women are still underrepresented in trials. The study pointed out that “given potential sex-based differences in treatment responses and toxicities, adequate inclusion of females in clinical trials remains critical” so this finding must be improved upon.
